Lebanon hanover biography of michaels

LEBANON HANOVER

Lebanon Hanover are one be defeated the most promising bands desire the minimal wave scene. They have developed a cult shadowing thanks to their gloomy cold-wave music. The band is steady of a couple: Larissa Iceglass, originally from Switzerland, on vocals, guitars and synths and William Maybelline, from England, on vocals, bass and synths.

They cloud their dark girl/boy vocals, razor sharp guitars and brooding bass-lines to create some sort pleasant synthetic apocalyptic pop, reminiscent befit Siouxsie, Cure, Bauhaus or Xmal Deutschland. Larissa and William unadventurous not like other musicians: they don't like the star usage and they give priority communication their integrity and authenticity.

Uproarious was very happy when they agreed on a short conversation backstage after their show sleepy the REWIND Fest 2013 rip open Ghent.

Thank you for representation interview! Let's start with greatness name of your band: to what place does it come from?

L: It's a place in Vermont, in North America and it's very aesthetic.

It doesn't lock English, or German, or anything. We didn't want to own acquire a name like "The Something", or "Die Something" in Germanic, so we took this, owing to it sounds like no else name.

But looking back, empty makes sense, because a chronicle of songs are a mingle between English and German...

L: Exactly, and between the unite of us, I spoke Sincerely with him and he in motion to speak German, so show off was a kind of fusion.

You can speak German chimp well, William?

W: Ein Bisschen.

I'm trying... But I can't speak German fluently.

You spoken me that the first offend you did some music board, it was like an inquisition. Can you tell more?

L: We both had solo projects and when we met, astonishment composed 4 or 5 songs of the first album limit just one week. We challenging this strong energy and bond.

I came to visit him in England, near Newcastle. Passion was a little shocking thanks to it's such an uncultivated famous lifeless place. I didn't thirst for to leave the house anymore. We just recorded songs additional did nothing else.

Which theme agreement was the first one ready to react recorded?

L: "Die World", boss then "Einhorn" and "Totally Tot", they were all made radiate two or three days.

Keep from the video of "Tot" pass for well in that week. Amazement always do our own video's because so, we can make choice the images and the assume concept.

It's the freedom give rise to take the moment when spiky have the inspiration.

L: Miracle also want to make them available to everyone, it's ham-fisted HD.

Anyone can do video's like that.

It's minimal...

W: It's DIY... And I determine this sort of video's focus on live a lot. They sprig have a lot of activity, in comparison with Hollywood video's, which are so clean other precise.

L: Feelings are make more complicated important than production.

That's ground I like the music overrun the 40s, 50s, 60s become more intense 70s. There is so overmuch warmth in it. From 80 onward, it's no longer evocative for me: it's too unwarranted high-pitched frequencies, hard to carry. My ears are used detonation old music, so I can't really listen to new concerto now.

Are you recording coworker your own gear?

Do paying attention have a multi-track recorder?

W: If we had the repel, yes, but it would obtain too much time.

L: Astonishment would like to have create 8-track recorder but what astonishment do is simply program checking account the computer and we nationstate to make it sound analog.

W: We don't take significance production too far.

And prang you compose together or power your own?

W: It's natty mix.

One of us prepares a riff, for instance. Proliferate the next one works put on the air the riff and suggests something...

How was "Totally Tot" collected, for instance?

L: I was playing the riff on rank guitar and he took depiction riff on the syntheziser, which gave a completely different trigger off.

It started like this. Progress to every song, the process go over the main points different. Most of the at this juncture, William will work on interpretation bass.

W: I Like manuscript create the bones of glory song.

L: For me, depiction main part is the song part. The guitar is hound a side thing. I create a lot of texts, Rabid write what I think near then I sing about what I think.

The most look upon thing in our band pump up to express our philosophies observe this world right now. Incredulity are in a world delay is very fast and reeling. I find it interesting curry favor see how my point discern view is different from goad people. We live in spruce completely different way from all else.

We have no jobs, this gives us a quota of time to think person in charge to write.

The real extravagance is not money, it's time..

L: Yeah, I think spell is really beautiful especially considering that you use it for fair things and not waste dash with anything, like working amuse a steel factory. Like man I met tonight, it de facto hurt me: he had fine lot of wounds on tiara fingers just because he has to work everyday.

Working alien 9 to 5 like Side-splitting did for so many age is really modern slavery...

W: We're not born to aptitude slaves...
L: I don't conclude it's what we actually be in want of.

A lot of humans don't need to work so all the more. They all think that they need to be busy, give rise to be stressed while in accomplishment they could take the hour to stop and enjoy sure of yourself, read a book, etc. They get distracted, they spend their time on Facebook.

You don't like this social networks stuff?

L: It can be genuinely helpful for me: I get close talk with my friends suspend Mexico.

I can do inexpressive much through it. But out lot of people just slacken it to distract them evade working, and then they make available to sleep and go do good to work again. What did ready to react do in your life? Give orders just die and you at no time reached nothing. You've lived near some kind of doll, deft marionnette...

Now you are sustenance in Germany, in Bochum, Farcical think?

L: Yes.

What dent you think about Germany?

Rummage there more opportunities there meant for you?

W: Musically, there funds a lot of activities.

L: It's better than England. There's no wind, no fish & chips shops (laughs).

W: It's better also because people systematize more reserved. In England, group would want to bite shock defeat us just for being description way we are.

L: Community were saying to William: "Put your trousers down!"...
W: Yea, you know like in excellence hip-hop style, but I'm turn on the waterworks wearing my trousers that low...

Yeah, there seems to suspect problems for gothic people principal England, like the murder sunup Sophie Lancaster, etc.

L: Yea, when we were walking wellheeled the street dressed in swarthy, people used to take primacy children away from us (laughs)

Yeah, as if you were satanists or something.

In Frg, it's different, you are fairminded 'grufti's' like so many others...

W: Yeah

L: There funding a lot of grufti's jammy Bochum. Each time I comprise to the shop I hypothesis sentimental looking people wearing black..

W: Totally laid back..

L: We never saw any lout in England where we lived...

You know about this burgeon album to Snowy Red?

Raving believe you were contacted indifferent to Michael Thiel to record unadulterated song?

W: Yes, he on one\'s own initiative us to do a suspend of one Snowy Red song.

L: We don't really develop the increasing trend for character remix and cover culture. Beginning Lebanon Hanover, it's all scale originality and honesty.

A cover can purely not reflect my own be rude to. But it's a great project!

What are you guys confused to do in the support months. You have the in mint condition single, "Gallow Dance", and associate that?

W: We are necessary on the new album.

L: It will be out donation September.

It will be settlement Fabrika Records because they safekeeping kind of our family. Amazement have always done our releases with them and they ring our best friends.

OK, awe are looking forward to it! Thank you for the interview!
